Going, going...?

The town of Smyrna is auctioning off a piece of property in the downtown area. On it sits the Smyrna Rescue Squad and another structure.

Being sold through ebid the land currently has one bid for $187,255.00 placed by the Smyrna Church of Christ. I'm not sure of what will happen to the rescue squad as the church has voiced its desire for the land to use as parking.

There was an initial attempt to do a land swap but that fell through for many reasons.

While the Smyrna Church of Christ is not anywhere near the size of some Mega-Churches, I have always wondered how big churches can function as a community over a certain size.

What is going to happen with the Rescue Squad?? Do they have a new building to go to?

No idea. I believe they are without a lease, but the bad publicity of kicking them out would make the church look bad.

Not sure what will happen to them, but sure will post it here when I find out.

I did volunteer work with the meals on wheels program that did operate out of the kitchen at the rescue squad building a couple of years ago. Are they still there?

I'll also check on that. There seems to be a lot up in the air on the subject of that building.
