Good afternoon Smyrna. Here's your regular (mostly) update on happenings around town.

Our town government has a few meetings planned.
Historic Zoning Commission: October 27, 2008 - 5:00 PM
Next Town Council Workshop is: October 28, 2008 - 7:00 PM
The Historic commission's meeting tonight will have on it's agenda the property owned by Phyllis Campbell who made the horrible mistake of asking to have her property rezoned. Her property is within eye sight of the Historical district so our fine town council said that it should be added. She did not ask for it, but what the heck. Tonight she will find out if she loses a lot of property rights in the name of pretty'fication.

Well that's it for this week. I hope to have some good material during the next week or so. As always if you have material you wish posted please contact me or leave a message in comments. I'm hoping Rebecca who wrote this wonderful comment will volunteer to do a guest column...or two.

My friends and I went to see Jerry Noe speak about ghosts. I have to say it was a major disappointment. Upon arrival I was getting excited of what could be ahead due to his first story. Soon after that it went downhill. I went to learn how to do a ghost investigation but left only to have learned how much he disapproves of other religions, especially Catholics and Jews. I felt more like I was at a bible study rather than a discussion of the paranormal.

I do not recommend going to one of his discussion if you only are interested in the paranormal. Jerry Noe needs to educate himself not only on other religions but also how to speak to a large group. He was easily distracted and kept forgetting what he was talking about. His stories were strictly based on his opinions that he was trying to convince that they were facts.

Dang! Now I'm sorry I posted the event. I dislike people who misuse open forums like that to get personal on issues way off subject.
