Tampa Bay Pro Pitcher coming to town next week

Baseball fans get ready to meet one of the locals best Pro baseball players coming up on Feb 7th at the Smyrna Bowling Center.

The David Price Benefit has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Smyrna Bowling Center. The benefit is to raise money for an endowment college fund at Blackman High in memory of Nathan Stephens. Stephens, a former basketball teammate of Price's at Blackman, suffered a seizure and died while playing basketball in August 2007 in Knoxville. He was 22.

Price, a former Vanderbilt pitching ace, was the No. 1 overall Major League Baseball draft pick in 2007. After making his Major League Baseball debut in September, Price pitched in both the World Series and American League Championship Series for the Tampa Bay Rays, getting the save in the title game of the ALCS against Boston to earn the team's first World Series appearance.

A silent auction wil be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be an autograph session starting at 10:30 a.m. with bowling beginning at noon.
