15th

A lot of the money that Smyrna receives from the state is based upon our population. With the growth of Smyrna the town financed an off-year census to catch up with the money supply verses the growth we were experiencing. Well the numbers are out from the latest federal census and we are just short of 40,000.
Smyrna’s population climbed from being Tennessee’s 18th most populated city in 2000 to 15th in 2010 with 39,974 residents, the U.S. Census reported today.
The article says we added as a community almost 14,000 plus in 10 years.
