We're fighting mad.......

Well, as most of you know, our Kroger's on S. Lowry is closing on May 19th. There are several of us so upset about this store that has been there for 18 yrs, that we have started a facebook group called keep Kroger's on Lowry open. We have well over 100 members so far and it seems to be growing daily. I have also joined up with Karen's Kustards and we are getting people to sign a petition when they come in for a bite to eat. April 17th from 1pm til 5pm we will be having a big petition drive at Karen's Kustards. There will be free ice cream cones for everyone that signs the petition plus we will be having a few things in the field beside her business. Someone has donated a few inflatables so the kiddies can bounce around and have fun while the adults talk about Kroger's.

I have been told by several business people at the strip mall there that Sears did look into the few parcels that where on the left side of Kroger's to put in an outdoor living center. When Sears found out Kroger's was leaving they decided not to come to town. This would have been jobs created plus tax revenue for the city. This is something the city needed but Kroger's says it's loosing to much money. Why not do a small remodel and put in gas pumps as well to build that side of town up? You have to spend a little money to make money. Please try to come by on April 17th to sign our petition or at least stop by soon to show your support.

I can count the number of times I visited that Kroger in the past year on a single hand. It's not in the best interest of Kroger Co. to keep it open; given the other one is going gangbusters on Sam Ridley.

Next down: keep an eye on the Food Lion over off Hazelwood.

I agree with Serr8d. Kroger's just isn't busy like it used to be anymore, a lot of people are going to places like Publix, (since there's more than three in Rutherford Co. already) those are everywhere! -And usually they're busy all the time. Kroger's is just old and outdated. It's really NOT in their best interest. Sadly, you're right though, but even more to think about is how those other stores will fair once Kroger's is gone. I imagine they'll just leave, too.

Food Lion is bound to me the next axed. They're just not very clean and as old as they are... I think Wal-Mart will sign up to be executioner on that one. LOL

That Kroger is SO dirty and the people are SO rude! It is the closest grocery store to my house but I trek to Publix every single time I need anything - even if it's a gallon of milk. Lines have 10 people in them and managers just watch and chat rather than open up another line. I will be glad to see it go!

This Kroger doesn't even have self-checkout. Why should we keep them open? Publix is opening stores all over Rutherford County and Kroger just can't compete. A petition to keep the store open is not going to help them increase profits. Just because they remodel doesn't mean customers are going to come rushing in. Just let them go and check out Publix on Almaville Road. I wish more Kroger stores would close down and take the Food Lions of the world with them.
