Robbery crash update

The crash that was mentioned earlier this week on this site has taken a turn for the worse. It seems that the individuals were robbing Gun and Pawn on Front street. I've been in that store several times and it is a well run local business. Sadly they were the victims this time of a robbery.

The attempt was interrupted by the SPD and a chase ensued. The earlier crash mentioned a death, but it seems that some ran from the crash and are still being sought.
Three suspects in the truck were injured a transported to the hospital for treatment. The Tennessean now says one of those injured suspects has since died. Another is still being treated while the third was released.
Police say at least three more suspects fled the wreck and are being sought by authorities. It appears that most if not all of the suspects are juveniles.
Damn kids. They think they are invulnerable and immortal. Sadly this will derail the life of those involved that are caught, and reinforce the idea that they can get away with anything for those that escape.

New Business in town

I try to keep ads down to Grand Openings/New Businesses, Going out of business sales and Charity events. I am overjoyed when new businesses come into town. I like the energy they bring.

Here is a new business in town called Smith Dental. It has had several write ups about it in industry media due to its unique motif and already have a web presence on FaceBook and Web.

They've had their Grand Opening and are waiting for the surf to come in. Ha. The theme of their practice is for the surfing culture from the West Coast and it might be just what a kid needs to relax. No plastic ferns here. The site has none of the industrial look that is so offsetting and just made to put you on edge. The colorful site might just be what a kid needs to put their mind at ease.

Dr. Smith, of Smith Dental, is a Harvard and Vanderbilt educated Dentist. He has sites in Spring Hill and Madison that are Ortho-only, but the new Smyrna site is a Multi-specialty site to meet all your needs.

A lot of work has gone into this new business here in Smyrna and if you have a need, try them out.

I'm happy to say they are not on Sam Ridley, but are at 1347 Rock Springs Rd. Smyrna, Tennessee. They're number to call them is  615-83-SMILE

I asked, what for me is a very important question. Do they have nitrous? "we have nitrous, and our hours are Mon-Fri 8am-8pm; Saturday’s from 8a-2p. However, until we build-up our patient base, we aren’t yet seeing patients every Saturday."

Steve Cram from Smith Dental also said that "We also offer in-house financing for orthodontics.". That right there is a positive in my view.

Local first aid class being offered

As part of the Family Safety and Preparedness expo that is going to be held, a first aid class is also being offered. While I believe that everyone should have this knowledge, people with kids should really think about taking this class.

Helping pay the bills

Right about now a lot of parents are thinking of how they will pay for their kids education. Here is a middle Tennessee scholarship that might help. God luck
The Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS® (MTAR) has begun their annual Scholarship Awards process for fall 2016/spring 2017. Scholarship applications were mailed out January 5th to guidance counselors in all high schools in the 8-county MTAR service area. MTAR serves Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Moore and Rutherford Counties in Tennessee.
Scholarship applications are accepted each spring from high school seniors planning to attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university that is physically located within the 8-county MTAR area. In addition, the student must currently reside in one of those counties. This year's scholarships are for fall 2016 and spring 2017. They may be used for any expense the student may incur.

Be on the lookout

This individual was busy and robbed two places in two days. Sadly he was smart enough to properly hide his face, so you'll need to look at the clothing and such.

On 02/03/16 around 9:40pm, an armed subject entered the KwikSak store on Old Nashville Hwy at Hazelwood Dr. The suspect attempted to rob the store with a gun. The suspect became frightened and ran from the store before getting any money.
On 02/04/16 at 9:42pm, a suspect matching the same description, entered the Capt. D’s restaurant and held 3 employee’s at gunpoint. He forced an employee to give him money and fled on foot in an unknown direction . The Smyrna Police Department are seeking assistance in identifying the person(s) involved in these crimes.
If you have information contact Det. James Scott at (615)267-5014
