Missing Girl in Smyrna, TN Update

The apartment complex is apparently under lock down. Had to show id to get in. Our apartment was subject to another search today as investigators question the neighborhood. FBI is here.

I am to answer questions sometime this evening. I will keep you posted.

Update: 7:33 PM and still no visit. Most of the news crews have packed up and moved up. There is a rumor circulating that the boyfriend tried to sneak the child back into the apartment complex last night but it is only a rumor at this point.

Also, the police seem to have called it a day as well.

Bake Sale/Yard Sale for Missing Smyrna Girl's Family This Weekend

The Meadow Wood "Kids" of the Meadow Wood Apartments complex at 600 Nissan Drive in Smyrna, TN will be having a Bake Sale/Yard Sale this Saturday to help raise money for the Guerra family. The Guerra's daughter, Analyce Guerra, went missing on Sunday night/Monday morning. If you are interested in donating baked goodies to the bake sale, please deliver them to the office no later than 6 PM on Friday.

The Apartment complex already planned a yard sale but if you have items that you wish to sell and donate proceeds to the family, you can do that as well. Contact Meadow Wood Apartments office at (615) 459-8788.

Missing Girl in Smyrna, TN - Update

So you know what I know, the police, according to the Tennessean, have called off the search and are now interviewing people who know the family. Suspecting foul play.

Don't give up hope and keep your eyes peeled for the missing girl. By the way, her age is 28 months.

URGENT : SMYRNA BLOGGERS, PLEASE READ.

Michelle McManus coming to you live from Meadow Wood Apartments where a young girl has come up missing.

Early this morning around 4:00 AM a phone call was placed to the Smyrna, TN Police Department. I can attest that they were here searching at approximately 4:15 for the missing girl. Please pass the message along that this little girl is missing. Police are following up on leads. A candelite vigil is talking place as I blog. Please help.

There's been an Amber Alert issued by Smyrna Police Department. Analyce Guerra, age 1 (16 months) , has been missing since last night. Her mother, a local resident of Meadow Wood apartments, says that she put her baby to sleep last night and woke up around 4 A.M. to find her baby gone.

If you have ANY news/leads/anything, please call Smyrna Police Department.

Update: 7:30 PM. There's no coordinated effort this evening to search anywhere. I feel so ineffectual. I've searched myself...

Apartments were searched. Hound Dogs were here. Infrared was used, as I understand. They've scanned a 4 mile radius. Still missing. They blocked off the apartment complex earlier. I came in and out without issue, however, when I got in.

It is now 9:25 PM. Fox 17 reports that the police believe the child would not have stayed gone this long by herself. I tend to agree. I came directly home and put on my long hunting socks, tennis shoes and grabbed my lantern ready to participate in a search for the missing girl.

I was told that they were wrapping the search up for the evening but I walked the back of the apartments, in the ditch that is behind our apartments, to look for myself. Then later I walked around the complex several more times... I looked for any signs of a child. I would suspect that the girl is still in diapers and was looking for a diaper on the ground as these things tend to fall off if soiled too much. Oddly enough, during the candle light vigil, the ice cream truck showed up and I know we were all hoping that the child would come running, begging for ice cream.

My husband took my daughter to school today and he was stopped and his vehicle searched. As it turns out, my son had left a red crayon in his clothing one day and when the clothes were put in the dryer, so was the crayon and wouldn't you know that he had the shirt with the red crayon on. He was asked several times what was on his shirt. Then they asked my 14 year old for identification...

I can't begin to imagine what the family is going through right now. My son is friends with the older brother of the little girl. They play together, sometimes in my apartment.

When I was younger, there was a girl who lived across the street from me. Her name was Amy. I won't disclose her last name. She was abducted while playing in the alley behind her house. The guy handcuffed her under the dashboard, took her off and sodemized her. Lucky for her, he dropped her off at a park in St. Louis and police found her. This incident brings back memories of that time in my life when vacant lots were your playground and collecting rusty nails was about the best hobby to have because there wasn't much else to do. This neighborhood is leaps and bounds better than the one that I grew up in so just goes to show that this can happen anywhere. To anyone.

Podcast #3A

As promised, here's the first half of the podcast we recorded Saturday afternoon. I decided to break the podcast up into two halves to make it easier to download. The second half will be posted later this week for your listening pleasure. Here is the link or you can download it directly here. Or if you'd like to subscribe to the feed in I-Tunes or another popular podcatcher client, you can use this feed.

I'd like to thank everyone who made it out to the meeting on Saturday. I had a great time and enjoyed the conversations.

We would like to extend our regrets that Rachel from Women's Health News and Katherine from Just Another Pretty Farce couldn't be with us Saturday. We hope that you can join us next month.

And we also hope that if you're reading or listening and didn't make it next month that you'll circle May 20th on your calendar and join us for the next meeting of the Middle Tennessee Bloggers and Podcasters.

Update: If you caught the episode earlier in I-Tunes or another podcatching program, you need to re-download. Had some technical glitches that are now worked out and we have the podcast at the full running time.

Thanks to everyone who came out. Our next meeting will be on Saturday, May 20th at 2:00. We will be meeting at Espresso Joe's in Smyrna, TN once more unless we come to a general consensus of where a more appropriate location might be. Our group is getting large. The focus of our meetings is general. We tend to talk about politics and technical stuff and ideas that are swimming around in the heads of those who attend. I'm looking forward to future partnerships with folks on creative opportunities. Read the one minute millionaire and you'll understand what I mean.

I learned so much from everyone who was there. I have not been able to do much blogging or reading of blogs myself lately as I have been very busy with a big project at work. In fact, I'm going to go in tomorrow as well. Special thanks to Gunner and Big Orange Michael for their continued contribution to the This is Smyrna, TN blog. If you find that you can't blog that much, the Blogger and Podcaster's meeting is a great opportunity for you to be heard and to hear about what others are doing. Come on out. I think Podcasting is equal in merit to blogging.

I had one general announcement on the Middle Tennessee Zombie Lurch that is being proposed. If you are interested in being a part of an emerging annual event, send your email to zombielurchtennessee@gmail.com. Persons who are interested in coordinating, acting, giving lectures or sponsoring should email. This is a non paying gig but should be lots of fun and is a good way to get your name out.

Signing off for now - M

Middle Tennessee Bloggers and Podcasters Meet-Up

Just in case the Easter sugar rush is just now starting to wear off, here's a quick reminder about the monthly meeting of the Middle Tennessee Bloggers and Podcasters group this Saturday, April 22nd at Espresso Joe's in Smyrna. The meeting begins at 2 p.m. CST.

Espresso Joe's Coffee Co is located at:
901 Rock Springs Rd.
Smyrna, TN
615-220-2870

As of now, these are the folks I believe will be there:
Of course, we're always hearing rumors that Chez Bez will join us, but I still think it's a myth. And if Rachel from TNGirl wants to ride over with our fan from Knoxville, they're always welcome as well.

If you're coming and not listed, I apologize. It was not intentional. Please give us a shout out to let us know you're coming and we'll add you to the list (and yes, part of the reason for the list it to make it easy to copy and paste code on Saturday to report who's there..)

Also, let's run up those comments with a few shouts from those who are coming.

See ya there!

Zombie Lurch in Tennessee

That's right kiddies. I know a fellow who is planning on having a Zombie Lurch right here in Tennessee.

I don't know all the details right now but I do know that the fellow has somewhat of a limited budget. I'd like to throw on the table the invitation to anyone wishing to volunteer for coordinating this event to email zombielurchtennessee@gmail.com.
