The Middle Tennessee Blogger Meet-Up is great, and I do not wish to disturb the format anymore then needed, but I have an idea I wish to throw onto the table to get your feedback.
Most of the people who show up are from the Smyrna-LaVergne area. So lets invite someone from the area to drop by and "see" the local bloggers. Brittney broke our collective hearts by not showing up.
My idea is to send an invite to the mayor of Smyrna and LaVergne to drop by and say "hi". While the real odds of them showing up are small, it would at least bring our group to their attention and may lead to visits in the future.
What are your thoughts on the subject?

Famous Dave's is coming to Smyrna
As I drove in to work this morning, I noticed that Smyrna will be getting a Famous Dave's. It will be near the world-famous Catfish House, Chili's and Logan's near I-24.
Not sure when it'll open.
But I'll keep my eyes open....

Middle Tennessee Blogger Meet-Up
I was just looking at the poll for the next meeting of the Middle Tennesse Bloggers and Podcasters Meet-Up on April 22nd.
As of right now, it's a 7-2 vote to meet at Espresso Joe's in Smyrna.
So, if you haven't voted yet and would like to, please do so. And looking at the comments and getting some feedback via e-mail, it looks like we might have some new faces at our next meeting to go along with the usual crowd.
We look forward to everyone who can make it being there!

Poll
We had a great time Saturday and would love to see more bloggers from around Middle Tennessee join us for our next meeting on April 22.
We have tentatively planned to meet at Espresso Joe's in Smyrna, but as we talked about Saturday, we want some feedback. So here's your chance to vote and offer some suggestions.
The poll is up and running. Vote early, vote often! (OK, not often..but you get what I'm trying to say).

Job hunting in Smyrna
Looking for a job, any job, can sometimes be very stressful. With most search engine returns bringing you nothing but questionable jobs and sites build on ads alone it is hard to find what you need online. Honestly how many times can you see the same ads attempting to get you to help sell time shares or worse door to door before you want to scream and give up?
As someone looking for a job I have ended up very impressed with certain local government's websites and would like to bring them to your attention.
Smyrna
Murfreesboro
Our neighbor city has 11 jobs listed. Most of these do not look seasonal and could be a nice "foot in the door" for something better. Sadly to look at the individual jobs require adobe reader as they are in PDF form.
La Vergne
While our neighbor has a page for job listing they currently have none posted.
Nashville/Metro
With everything from a librarian to a helicopter pilot needed this listing will have something for you. 25 individual jobs are listed on this one page alone with a few looking like they had several opening per job. Also on the bottom of this page are links to the Planning Department, the Health Department, the Metro Action Commission, and the Nashville Convention Center as they have their own human resources sites with jobs listed. A small note. The old requirement that if you worked for the Metro police or Sheriff's department you had to live in the county has been dropped. They found it was pretty much impossible to enforce that silly rule.
A few resources for your job hunting task ahead. Good luck.

Smyrna
Welcome to the Town of Smyrna Human Resources site on the World Wide Web. These pages are designed to provide you with information on careers, recruitment, benefits and more. Please take a look around and see what the Town of Smyrna Tennessee has to offer.A nice site that is currently listing 10 jobs open. Full and part time available. While most are seasonal and rather entry level they do have one full time administrative position open.

I've been very busy lately with work. Over the course of the last three weeks I've had a total of three days off. Suffice it to say that I'm exhausted. I'm looking forward to getting back to my normal self sometime in April. I will be off on for Spring Break the last week of March so hopefully I can do some blogging and get myself back in order.

Auction for the American Cancer Society
Ivy of our sister blog, This is LaVerge, TN contacted me and asked me to make our readers aware of the Auction for the American Cancer Society. I am reposting the original post, written by Kathy T.
Come one, come all! On Thursday, March 30th beginning at 5:00 p.m., Bob Parks Realty (Smyrna and Auction team) are hosting a live auction benefiting the American Cancer Society. We have worked tirelessly to collect an amazing assortment of professional sports memoribilia, including an autographed photo of Titans' Coach Jeff Fisher, signed footballs, jerseys & helmets, autographed photos, and much more. To see more, click FUNDRAISER AUCTION.
After hearing about the tragic death of Dana Reeve today from lung cancer, we are reminded that cancer affects so many people. I would bet that every single one of us has been touched somehow with this horrible, evil disease. Personally, I was devastated when I lost my 43-year old brother-in-law three years ago to bladder cancer. He left behind four beautiful children and a widow who now struggles to not only make ends meet, but to raise their children alone. Another friend of mine, Ana Barnes, died this past September after a desperate fight against stomach cancer. She was in her 30's - how unfair.
PLEASE COME TO THIS EVENT! You can buy tickets for an all-you-can-eat spread provided by Logans Roadhouse and other restaurants. You can bid on an amazing array of items - bids range from $5 to $1200. If you have questions about the auction, please call my office at 615-459-4040! See you there!!

"Liberty Bell" visits Smyrna
Smyrna will play host to a part of history this weekend. Here's details from WKRN.
A long range bomber which helped Allied forces turn the tide in World War II makes a stop in Smyrna .
The Liberty Belle B-17B was built in August of 1945. It was one of more than 12,000 built and one of just 14 still flying today.
The B-17 was dubbed the "Flying Fortress" as a result of its amount of defensive firepower. The B-17 easily flew beyond the range of escort fighters into enemy territory. The average B-17 mission lasted eight hours.
The Liberty Belle will be at the Smyrna Airport this weekend. Tours of the B-17 will be available Sunday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m....

Fall Creek Falls Star Party
Fall creek Falls state park is having a Star watching party at the end of this month, weather permitting.
Fall Creek Falls March 31 & April 1 Star Party Join us at the Inn for a of night star watching telescope viewing and discussions on the night sky. Telescopes will be offered or you may bring your own. For more information call (423) 881-5298.On the other side of McMinnville (map) the park offers an Inn, individual cabins, and camping sites to fit your taste. The last Star party I went to was at cedars of Lebanon and it was a blast. They had set up several small to medium sized telescopes and had each one "aimed" at a different object.
Fall Creek Falls State Resort Park is one of the most scenic and spectacular recreation areas in America. Its waterfalls, cascades, sparkling streams, gorges, timberland and an unmatched variety of recreation facilities and activities have made it one of the most popular parks in the Southeast. Fall Creek Falls is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains, plunging 256 feet into a shaded pool at the base of its gorge. The park's other falls, (Piney, Cane Creek and Cane Creek Cascades), though smaller, are just as impressive.Enjoy
