m. Appointment of one (1) member to Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport Authority to serve five (5) year term ending 2014.
There are a lot of openings, and while most people re-apply as I will, there will be some open seats for newbee's. This will give you a chance to make a difference in town.

A few committes and boards do have some limitations such as this.
Project Assistance Board – The Project Assistance Program was created to provide financial assistance to citizens in the areas of utility services. The board consists of seven members including the Director of Utilities, the Police Department Community Services Coordinator and five members affiliated with benevolent organizations in the Smyrna/LaVergne area. Term of service is three (3) years.
I plan on reapplying for the storm water advisory committee and also have an idea to apply for the Beer board. Why? I feel the beer board might be exapnded to more than the 5 current members if it is given the task of being the regulatory board of the new package liquor sales. If I do not get appointed I will at least have an application in if they do expand in the near future.

The application and information on each board and committee can be found on this page.

I've applied for the Beautification Board. Apparently there aren't any artists on there currently. I think it will be fun to be more involved in making Smyrna beautiful.

Gunner, just an FYI. I serve on the La Vergne Beer Board and we do not regulate La Vergne's liquor stores beyond their beer sales. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) has exclusive authority over non-beer sales, generally considered anything that has an alchohol content above 5%. I certainly think it's a valuable board, but the addition of liquor stores won't have any greater impact than if a gas station opens up.

I understand. The beer board gives the 'okay' on the beer permits in town to sell or serve and likely the board will expand to include the liquor stores. I feel like it would be a positive thing for me to try to get on the board.
