Guess Who's Coming To...

The Middle Tennessee Blogger and Podcaster's Meeting. She's blonde, she's hot (in more ways than one) and she comes to you from Nashville Is Talking five days a week.

Still clueless? It's Brittney!

Seems the Big O is quite persuasive. After all, what girl can resist the Big O? Now, now, contain yourself, I'm talking about Big Orange Michael. Rumor has it she was lured by the offer of free caffeine. Okay, maybe I made that part up.

I hope this announcement isn't premature. Let's all harrass her until she formally agrees through comment. How's that?

Anyway, even if she doesn't show, there'll be plenty of table dancing babes and strong young men at the Middle Tennessee Blogger and Podcaster's meeting on March 18th at 2:00 PM.

Espresso Joe's Coffee Co is located at:
901 Rock Springs Rd.
Smyrna, TN
615-220-2870

How 'bout a shout out from all those that will be there. That'll give me some time to prepare my show notes for the podcast.

By the way, I've not fallen into the great abyss, I've been working 10 to 12 hour days and trying to continue with my martial arts endeavors. Thanks for your continued readership.

The Snow Continues To Fall

I can imagine that there are a few kids and parent squealing with joy this morning as the rise to find the snow on the ground in Smyrna. It is lovely.

Anyone know how the roads are? I have to get out and go to Publix this morning and get a cake for my son's birthday party which is this afternoon. Preparing for that has kept me VERY Busy.

Publix has really good cakes. They have these awesome pirate cakes that are about $40 but I just couldn't see paying that much for a cake. They have a lot of different styles to choose from.

Well, as I said earlier, I have a birthday party to prepare for today so I must be on my way.

Freecycle

This is my first post as co-blogger on This Is Smyrna so I thought I would start with a public service announcement.

Everyone has crud that builds up in their life. Stuff to good to throw away, but you have NO use for anymore. You might want to look into freecycling it

Welcome!
The Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is run by a local volunteer moderator (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by clicking on the region on the left. You may then go directly to your local group by clicking on "Go To" or you may immediately join by clicking on "Join." It will generate an automatic e-mail which, when sent, will sign you up for your local group and send you a response with instructions on how it works. Can't find a group near you? You might want to consider starting one (click on "Start a Group" for instructions). Have fun!
.....

How does it work?
When you want to find a new home for something -- whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door -- you simply send an e-mail offering it to members of your Freecycle group.

Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself. Simply respond to a member's offer, and you just might get it. After that, it's up to the giver to decide who receives the gift and to set up a pickup time for passing on the treasure.

Our main rule: Everything posted must be free, legal, and appropriate for all ages.
......

Who can use The Freecycle Network?
Think globally, recycle locally. The Freecycle Network is open to all communities and to all individuals who want to participate. Freecycle groups are run by local volunteer moderators from across the globe who facilitate each local group - grassroots at its best!
I have been a member for about half a year. In that time I have given away an extra recliner, and a wooden cabinet that someone now uses in their refurbished garage. In the same time I have gotten about 150$ worth of clothes for my wife, a pressure canner, and a computer printer.

An example of what is being given away at the Smyrna Tennessee freecycle group is the following.
Sectional sofa
Women's clothing(LOTS) size 6-12
3 ladies sweaters small
scotch guard, woolite, citronella oil, planters, washing bag
bathroom accessories
3 non working power wheels
infant/toddler girls shoes
Your clutter could be someone's treasure

This Is Smyrna, TN Blog Inspires Others

I wasn't going to blog tonight. I've had a very busy schedule lately and have been getting to work before 7 and staying till 5:00 or so then karate but had to point this out.

Kudos to my virtual friend, Kathy T., a real estate agent in Rutherford County, started a LaVergne, TN Blog. Congrats, Kathy T. I think that is great and when I get a little more time on my hands, I will put a link up under a new category called Neighbors.

King Chef

Smyrna has another new restaurant!

I tried the cuisine from the new King Chef's Chinese and gyro take-out last evening. I ordered General Tzo's Chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. The portion size was good, the food was quite good and it was reasonably priced.

King Chef is located on Sam Ridley, near the bowling alley, in the same strip mall with Fat Mo's.

Live Blogging From First Baptist Church In Smyrna, TN

7:06 PM
OMG... The teen's band is playing Kelly Clarkson right now and though I don't much prefer the bubble gum type music, I have to admit they sound really, really good.

Edited with above content at 7:06 PM...

It's Wednesday... Can you guess where I'm at? First Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN... That's right. Sitting here on my laptop, blogging.

Right now, there is a crowd of people gathered in the World Cup Cafe as the band plays in the Multi-Purpose room of this very large and beautiful church. Like music? Every Wednesday the band plays, or at least that has been my experience.

I'm waiting for the day when someone walks up to me and says, "You must be the Smyrna Blogger..."

Don't forget their upcoming seminars:

February 5th
"How to Talk to Your Teen about Sex & Sexuality"
9:00 AM in the Multi-Purpose Center

and

February 12th
"How to Help your Student Build a Healthy Self-Image"
9:00 AM in the Multi-Purpose Center

You can learn more about First Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN at their website: www.fbcsmyrna.org or call (615) 459-3311.
