Today (Saturday) the Smyrna Library will be hosting a family Movie. No cost, and you can take the time to expose your children to the joys found at the library.
I'm not sure which movie it is, so I guess you'll need to go to find out. Ha. The old bait and switch. You go for a movie, they trick you into getting books and bettering your self. So dastardly.

Guess our new Neighbor
My friend just posted on his Facebook page a picture of a sign up near Lowe's. It simply reads T.J.Max. Coming Soon. Of course it is going in on the Sam Ridley Strip, but it is growth, new jobs and a small sign that we can still draw in big businesses.
Assist the Smyrna Police.
On 6/5/16, the pictured female used a cloned credit card to defraud the victim of over $400.00 in cash. The suspect is seen driving away in a silver, early 2000’s Ford Taurus. If anyone can help identify this suspect, please contact Det. Anderson at 615.267.5433.
Help the Smyrna Police
The Smyrna Police Department seeks the assistance of the public identifying a person of interest. On 05/25/2016 at approximately 2:28pm, a female entered a store on Sam Ridley and used a cloned Visa card to purchase gift cards and other merchandise. The Visa card used belonged to another person who has made a report of unlawful use of a credit card. Any Information contact Detective Scott at 615-267-5014

Group of Interest in Smyrna
Most people know there is a Senior Citizen Center in Smyrna, but most people do not know how much happens there. This is not some group of elderly people just sitting around, but a center that has regular activities, food and trips. This image shows you just one trip that have arranged for their members,
They also regularly have open houses, auctions for charities and community meals there. To much to put in one post, but you really should check them out as this is what they offer.
The Smyrna Senior Citizens Center stays very busy with various activities that our members take part in each week including Bingo, Dominoes, Ceramics, Bridge, Watercolor, Quilting, Arts & Crafts, Sign Language, Bible Study, Walking, Exercise and Line Dancing. We have speakers come in several times a month to talk about various subjects and issues that Seniors are interested in. Our fun extends outside of the Center as well. Each month, we all come together for a monthly meeting that includes a potluck meal and entertainment. As often as we can, we load our 15 passenger bus for day trips to area attractions throughout Tennessee, go shopping and always to go eat lunch. We also go on overnight trips that last anywhere from one night to two weeks. We have visited great places like Colorado, New Orleans, Savannah, Niagara Falls, Myrtle Beach, Tunica/Memphis and Albuquerque. We have also been on an Alaskan Cruise.

Tribute
Yesterday in our town, a member of the Blue Angels flying team crashed and lost his life. This poem came to mind.
High Flight
John Gillespie Magee, Jr
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
