After 18 years with the Smyrna Police Department, Kevin Arnold was named the town's new chief of police Thursday.Several officers at the Citizen's police academy have brought up some changes that may be in the works. They all speak highly of him and a few even said that they hoped he would be hired as the new chief.
"It feels good. It feels awesome," Arnold said.
Appointed to the new post by Town Manager Mark O'Neal, Arnold was hired by the department in 1989 as a patrol officer and worked his way up through the ranks, serving as a detective, detective sergeant, major and most recently, assistant chief to former chief Mike Beach. Beach resigned in December, and Arnold has been leading the department since then.
Now that he's official projects can start moving forward for the Smyrna Police Dept.

This "knowledge" of yours is new to me. I have heard nothing of it, so what was it based on, the investigation that is?
i worked with him, and stayed in touch with several people in the town admin. he had a major pill problem a while back and he was relapsed several times. The doctors office right across the street from the Old PD was his supplier and the DEA censured his MD license and he could not write narc prescription for sometime. City hall was investigating him for using his city computer to look up porn. Smyrna tax payers pay the man to look at porn how great is that. He is now in iraq working Security. He is an over paid security guard how great is that. they know about the pill problem but could not prove it and they were fishing and found the porn. Now smyrna has a great chief.
Chief Arnold is a good person to lead our PD. I agree with that a lot.
The city covers stuff up did you know they have a seg. that took a city police car into the county and did doughnuts in his girlfriends yard because he thought she was cheating on him. he did this as a patrol officer and they have promoted him to seg.

Interesting. Surprised they promoted him. Not sure if the police here have a strong union like some of the larger cities.
no they have a very weak orginization called the PBA but they don't do any type of neg. for the officers. He has a side bus with the capt. over patrol that is how he got the promotion this is after m'boro PD ran this guy out of the boro. i could go on and on about some of the officers there. but most of the true patrol officers are good hard working trustworthy men and women. it is sad that the prev. admin promoted some true scum bags hopefully Arnold will weed them out like that sh%$ bag hampton.
