Vandals damaged both the LaVerge and Smyrna football fields Thursday evening, leading to some speculation that the week zero clash between these two Rutherford County rivals might be cancelled.
According to reports from the Daily News Journal, the Smyrna football field (where the game was held) had tire tracks put along the 50-yard line.
Damage to LaVergne's field led to cancelling a freshman football game Thursday evening.
The clash between Smyrna and LaVergne went on as scheduled. The Smyrna Bulldogs pounded LaVergne, 42-21. Smyna scored three TDs in the opening quarter.
Luckily for both squads, there were no injuries as a result of the field vandalism.
