Job fair in the future

Lowe's is planning a large cross-state job fair for February. They plan on hiring seasonal workers. This might be just what you need to get by until a full time all-season job comes your way.

Lowe’s is looking to hire 46,000 seasonal employees, including at all Middle Tennessee stores, for the spring and summer months.
On February 6 all Lowe’s stores in Middle Tennessee will host a job fair in an effort to fill positions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Seasonal employees are needed from February through September.
Available positions include customer service associates in sales floor departments, receiving and stocking, cashier, delivery and loader.

It looks like they plan on doing the hiring real quick, and ask that you register on their website ahead of time to speed things along.

Good luck

Help the Smyrna Police

On 1-10-16, two black females and one black male entered the Walmart store located at 570 Enon Springs Road East. They went up to a cashier and wanted to put money on a Visa Gift Card. After the cashier put the money on the gift card, one of the suspects asked to see the gift card. The cashier gave the suspect the gift card, and the suspect then acted like she was looking through her purse. Meanwhile, one of the other suspects slipped her a blank gift card. They gave the blank gift card back to the cashier and stated that they left the money in their car. They advised they would go get the money and come back for the gift card, and never returned. Anyone who may be able to identify these individuals is asked to contact Detective Allan Nabours with the Smyrna Police Department at (615) 267-5434.

Nissan closing due to weather

It looks like even Nissan is closing. I don't follow Nissan comings and goings, but I'm not surprised. I wonder if there will be a skeleton shift to receive parts shipments that come in during the inclement weather.

UPDATE 11:30 a.m.: Nissan's Smyrna Vehicle Assembly and Battery Plant will close early Friday, a company official announced.
Because of the weather, the Smyrna plants have adjusted their production schedules, Nissan North America spokesman Josh Clifton said.
The plant's day shift will end at early on Friday, the afternoon shift is canceled and Saturday production for all shifts is canceled, he said.
Please contact the Nissan Weather Information Line at 1-866-503-5101 for additional details.

Enjoy it while you can

Stay home. Go back to bed. Heat up some cocoa. You're getting the chances to stay home and get paid.

Information Regarding State Office Closures, Friday, January 22
Update:Due to severe weather conditions, ALL state offices will be closed today, Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.

Help the Smyrna Police

Some individuals from Nashville used stolen credit cards from a hospital to commit a crime. They stole from someone at a hospital. What scum. Seriously. I figure it was a crime of opportunity, but a hospital is a place for healing and safety...and then this happens.

I hope the horrible hat on the third individual helps catch them. Talk about a fashion crime.

On 12/2/15, the pictured females used a debit card stolen from Summit Hospital in Nashville to purchase over $600 worth of items from the Target in Smyrna. If anyone can help identify any of them, please contact Detective Jason Anderson at (615)267-54343.

That is a lot of perfume

The Smyrna Police Department could use your help to find these two odoriferous individuals

I have  mentioned that I took better pictures using a pinhole camera made from a shoe box in high school than most CCTV cameras. It might be costly, but how many $500 hits does a store need to take before they justify upgrading their system.
This pictured white female entered the Target in Smyrna on two separate occasions. The female took over $500.00 worth of perfumes without paying for them. Anyone who may recognize or have any information about this individual is asked to contact Detective Nabours at (615) 267-5434.

Simply amazing

The internet has given birth to many new ideas that have revolutionized commerce and finances. Sites like GoFundMe, KickStarter, Microloans and in some cases even free. The recent success of 'pay what you want' worked well for Radiohead and Louis CK.

There is a new movement that is gaining some traction online and a local group has been formed.

Buy Nothing
Post anything you’d like to give away, lend, or share amongst neighbors. Ask for anything you’d like to receive for free or borrow. Keep it legal. Keep it civil. No buying or selling, no trades or bartering, we’re strictly a gift economy.

Will it work here? No idea, but if you're up to it you can give it a try.

The local group has set up a FaceBook page for Smyrna, and they asked if I would share this with you. I hope this takes off like the Freecycle groups did once.

Good Luck.

Listening in

With the internet you can pretty much find anything online. A good example is radio listening sites like Broadcastify where you can listen in to many government radio channels.

The site is free and can play in the background as you do other stuff online.

Here is the page for Rutherford County. Listen and enjoy.
