New Gear for the SPD

A newspaper article was brought to my attention by Google news alerts. It seems that the Smyrna Police Department is upgrading their rifles. This is not a new rifle, it is a modular system to improve the abilities of what they already have. It is best described as new gear.
“We conducted a thorough review of a variety of chassis systems to replace our aging Remington Model 700 stocks,” said Cpl Gary Schoon of the Town of Smyrna Police Department. “The MOD*X GEN III gave us a lightweight, ergonomic chassis to upgrade our Remington Model 700’s.

This impresses me in so many ways. Instead of purchasing all new firearms to get the latest and coolest bang for our tax bucks, they simply upgraded what they had.
