Oops!

While we do not suffer the issues northern states do, this is something that I did not know about. The newer light that Smyrna has been installing over the last couple of years are LED light because they are brighter and use less energy...but.
Cities around the country that have installed energy-efficient traffic lights are discovering a hazardous downside: The bulbs don't burn hot enough to melt snow and can become crusted over in a storm — a problem blamed for dozens of accidents and at least one death.
We don't suffer winters as bad as the northern states, but this is the draw back of modern technology.

I have another comment about Smyrna's fabulous traffic lights... those red strobes that seem to indicate an...I have no idea why they are there, but they are obnoxious and dangerous! Epileptics are not supposed to drive anyway, but if they do, those lights are pretty much guaranteed to cause a major wreck!!!

wow! that's an amazing revelation!
The LEDs are definatly the way to go, they should come up with a better design, maybe no bottom lip or something.
