"Smyrna Show"
This weeks edition of the "Smyrna Show" will be broadcast today and might be worth a listen.
Mike Sparks has posted this on his DNJ blog.
Mike Sparks has posted this on his DNJ blog.
WGNS Radio 1450 am & 100.5 fm will broadcast our bi weekly "Smyrna Show" from the Smyrna Boys & Girls Club @ 3pm Thursday with Bryan Barrett. The Boys & Girls Club Director Dan Jernigan, Campaign Chairman Coon Victory, Director of Resource Development Beth Jennings and Smyrna Director Diane Stockard will be on the air with us discussing their vision, efforts and positive difference their club makes in the lives of our young people. With our Country's growing problems ranging from children growing up fatherless, lack of accountability, a growing gang problem, peer pressures and many more problems the Boys & Girls Club is one organization we can and should all support.I have some good memories of the Boys and Girls club of my hometown. My hometown had a good Boys and Girls club and I was there often.

WGNS linked
I have added a new image link to radio station WGNS in Murfreesboro. I have posted in the past on what I called "Smyrna Radio", a semi-weekly show broadcast normally from the YMCA here in Smyrna. Because of the radio show from this end of the county I feel they should be linked to on "This is Smyrna, TN.".
WGNS, while a radio station first, has also gotten into the online news dissemination. I would link to their news page, but there seems to be several. A Blogspot blog, a wordpress blog, a WGNSradio newpage, and a Miocrosoft live.com blog. While there are several sites, all are linked to from the WGNS mainpage. Maybe each radio personality has their own, because each of them have different posts.

Smyrna Radio today
WGNS radio will be broadcasting from the YMCA lobby if you want to drop by, or call.
Anti-Bible Theme ParkThis looks like it could be a fun show.
Petition Given To County Commission
A grass-roots effort got 2,700 backers to sign a petition opposing the proposed Bible Theme Park. It was given to the Rutherford County Commission, the body that ultimately decides on the concept. In a WGNS radio broadcast, County Mayor Ernest Burgess said that developers have not filed any request for the complex. However, he said they were aware that New York based SafeHarbor Holdings, LLC, is completing a variety of extensive studies. Managing Partner Armon Bar-Tur earlier told WGNS News, "It's a wonderful experience to visit the Holy Land, but most persons are not able to make the trek. The Bible theme park would give them that experience. It is not a platform for religious beliefs, but instead hopes to give those who attend a historical perspective of Biblical times." Developers are considering a 300-acre plat of land in the Blackman community that fronts State route 840 and I-24. If built, studies indicate approximately a million visitors will come to the Heart of Tennessee. Armon Bar-Tur will join Bryan Barrett and County Commissioner Mike Sparks on WGNS' Rutherford Issues live from Smyrna this coming Thursday (8/23) afternoon (3-4pm). Listeners will be able to phone WGNS (893-1450) and ask questions. You can sit in on the show and watch the action unfold. Visit the Smyrna YMCA on Thursday at 3! A seating area has been set up next to the broadcast site.

Request for questions
With hat in hand I come before the readers of my blog with a question, and a request that I be forgiven for the lateness of this post. I was supposed to post this last week, but things in my life went from hectic, to frantic.
Here goes.
3pm Thursday of this week the Smyrna radio show will be broadcast from in front of the offices of Smyrna A.M.. In attendence will be Smyrna A.M. editor Taylor Loyal, and 11th district county commissioner Mike Sparks.
Mike would like to answer questions that you have on Smyrna and its future. To get them answered on air please email them to Taylor Loyal by Thursday.
If time allows I'm even going to try to be there.
***tagged to stay at the top till thursday***
