Where?

I had a google alert hit on a Murfreesboro Post article about endangered historical sites in Rutherford county. One was in Smyrna and I cannot seem to find much information on it.
History abounds in Rutherford County and so does development, but they don’t have to be exclusive, the Heritage Foundation of Rutherford County said.
The county has grown exponentially in population and construction in the last 20 years.
.....
With the help of the Heritage Partnership, The Murfreesboro Post has identified the Top 10 (11, because we believe in historic preservation) endangered sites in Rutherford County
....
4. Development also threatens Smyrna’s King House, Carlton said.

Built in the early 1800s as a log house, the building was used as a Confederate hospital and headquarters during the Battle of Stones River.
Where is this structure? Googling the name returns nothing so maybe you fine readers can help.

Hmm...I don't know, but it should be pretty simple to find out. A call to the county archives should provide an answer. My guess is that it is the homeplace of Adeline King/Walter King Hoover family, but that's just a guess. If nobody can give you an answer by Tuesday, I can look into it.

Adeline King was a fascinating lady. If you have never taken the opportunity to read her newsletters to local servicemen serving in WWII, I highly recommend them. Not only are they moving, but they will challenge your perceptions of the civillian mindset of that period.

Where would it be possible to find copies of those newsletters?

The first one can be read online here.

The letters are part of the Adeline King collection at the Gore Research Center, MTSU.

Gunner,

This is the house featured in the header of my blog. It is located on Old Jefferson Pike....not far from the Sharp Springs Park.

Thank you so much Lori. I like to be able to know what i'm writing about...even if it does not sound like it sometimes.
