Just $10

The Sam Davis home is having their Summer Soiree and you could go for the company, but stay for the exhibit.
Much like they would have 150 years ago just after Tennessee seceded from the Union, Rutherford County residents will gather at the Sam Davis Home at 6 p.m. Thursday for music and food.
.....
A Summer Soiree at the Sam Davis Home is being held in conjunction with a traveling exhibit entitled “This Cruel War: The Civil War in Rutherford County,” which will be on display at the Sam Davis Home and Museum through first week of July. The exhibit was created by MTSU public history students under the direction of Dr. Brenden Martin for the Sesquicentennial Remembrance, sponsored by the Rutherford County Tennessee Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee.
Have fun.

The musical days of Summer

This weeks talent starts with 'Robert Allen'. Their country style is laid back and very easy listening.

Robert performs country music in all its styles: traditional, bluegrass, honky tonk, rockabilly, blues. He has fronted and played harmonica for Grand Ole Opry artist Stonewall Jackson for several years, formed and fronted several of his own successful bands, and has sung all over the US and in 10 other countries. He is also a songwriter with his original songs in movies and in network and cable television shows.

The musical days of Summer

Rosemary Lewis has no bio, but has a fresh sound and seems a good way to start a week. I picked a live performance as I feel music groups should be judged by live performances and not polished tracks...and Rosemary delivered a good performance.

Suspects at large

I like how words are used in press releases. "Suspect" and "person of interest" are neutral and lawsuit safe words. Here in Smyrna the police are looking for 2 'suspects' and would like your help.

Fraudulent/Stolen Credit Card

On June 7, 2011, an unidentified black male stole a wallet from a purse inside the Cracker Barrel in Smyrna. Around 6:19 pm on the same date, a heavy set black female used the credit cards from the stolen purse to purchase $636.00 worth of gift cards at the Wal-Mart on Nolensville Road in Nashville. The same woman then attempted to purchase and additional $500.00 worth of gift cards from the same location; this transaction was denied. The female suspect left the store and got into the passenger side of a black SUV, possibly a Chevy Yukon or Denali. The same female went to the K-Mart on Nolensville Road and attempted to purchase $1662.00 worth of gift cards with a stolen credit card but this transaction was denied as well.

Home Burglary Suspect

On May 31, 2011, around 9:26 pm, a white male broke into the garage of an elderly female at 316 Rosemary Street in Smyrna. He left the garage with a Black and Decker drill, a gas powered Black and Decker grass trimmer and a Roto Zip tool. This subject then left on foot in an unknown direction. This incident was captured on the homeowners surveillance camera. Images of the suspect are attached to this email.
If you can help the police in capturing these people please contact Detective Allan Nabours at (615) 459-9742, ext. 5434.

Thanks and have a happy weekend.

The musical days of Summer

Rick Stufflebean is todays performer. With no bio his music will have to deliver the whole message. He has 23 songs to enjoy, and I would describe his music as 'Whiskey sipping music'...but that's just how I see it. Enjoy as Rick is a good way to start the weekend.

The Angry chicken eats healthy

The Angry Chicken likes these numbers when it comes to eating healthy by using non-factory produced eggs.
1/3 less cholesterol
1/4 less saturated fat
3/2 more vitamin A
Twice the omega-3 fatty acids
Three times more vitamin E
Seven times more beta carotene
Four to six times more vitamin D.
The positive side of having healthy and clean backyard chickens is now enumerated.
The article does say that many other towns in Utah have joined the backyard chicken movement.
Over the past few years, Utah has participated in a growing nationwide trend of poultry urbanization. Salt Lake, Provo, West Valley City, Spanish Fork and Orem are just some of the Utah communities that recently approved or considered ordinances allowing residents to keep backyard chickens.
The Angry chicken wants to eat healthier...but it is hard to do when illegal.

The musical days of Summer

Brad Howard is here to perform some country for you as todays Smyrna talent. His bio tells a little of his history.
Brad was born in the North Georgia area, and his family moved to North Wilkesboro, North Carolina when he was two years old. North Wilkesboro is a small town about thirty miles from the Blue Ridge mountains. He started singing in church at a very young age while his dad would play the guitar for him. He eventually would begin singing in churches around the southeastern area. While in high school, he became part of a gospel trio that would perform in the local area until he graduated. After Brad graduated from high school, he joined the Air Force full-time. While in active duty, he concentrated more on his military service then on music. He would eventually transfer into the Air Force Reserves and get back to doing what he loved. He started performing again in churches located in the southeastern area, while working at industrial plants full-time. He would later get the opportunity to perform the national anthem for several minor league games in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Brad always had a deep love for country music and recalls singing along with artists like George Strait, Don Williams, Gene Watson and others as a boy. He decided to start writing and recording his own material. His desire is to keep real country music alive, and reach out to people with his music. Brad currently lives in Smyrna, Tennessee. He is a proud parent of a 11 year old boy from a previous marriage. He credits God for his supportive family, musical opportunities, and the inspiration needed to write songs.

jUNK.38 is todays talent listed as "Hip Hop / Experimental / Punk Ethos". His music has mature themes, so listen with that in mind. His bio shows a desire to not just perform, but have a message in his tunes. Enjoy.
jUNk.38 was born out of a need for change...In a lyrical sense, to bring back the days when a person with a microphone in hand actually had something to say...In a musykal sense to experiment and manipulate audio waves that cause emotion and guide the listener on a journey...Whether that journey takes them to a dark place, a warm summer day, the inner working of my mind, or perhaps a new emotional experience the listener has yet to come across...I started producing my own beats out of necessity as I had no producer that could capture what I wanted to present...Until this incarnation of my musykal spirit I had previously played guitar in, and lent vocals to, a few punk bands, an industrial band and filled as lead guitarist for a folk band...So when I was told by a the producer/programmer of the industrial band, that "You [I] rap better than you [I] sing" thus was born the subliminal shadow of society known as jUNk.38...Check it out and as ever...KEEP IT STRAIGHT...Peasche

Crime in Smyrna

Each month the Smyrna Police Department posts online the folling information on basic crime numbers. I thought you might find them interesting.
These are the monthly and year to date calls for service that officers have responded to at the Smyrna Police Department. This is not the Uniform Crime Report that is submitted to the FBI and TBI.

Simply Smyrna Summer Fest

Some local businesses are hosting a Summer Fest for Smyrna. Smyrna used to have a Festival Organization that lasted many years and helped the community greatly. This is really what being part of a town is all about.
Saturday June 25, 4 - 7pm.
HobNobSmyrna, Chick-fil-a of Smyrna, and Carpe Artista will be sponsoring the first "Simply Smyrna Summer Fest."

The event is free to the public and there will be games, inflatables, face painting, rock climbing wall, prizes, music, food while supplies last and much more. This is great time to get out and hobnob with people in the community and local business owners.
Make plans and meet some great people.

The musical days of Summer

Mondays group is 'Bryson Weakley'. Described simply as "Five guys from middle Tennessee." I think they are a great way to start the week off.
